Burkitt's Lymphoma Fund for Africa
HOW FAR WILL YOUR HELP TAKE US?
$600 will fund the entire cost of treatment for one child in Uganda or Kenya. If 12 donors each provide $50 or 3 donors provide $200, we can fund the treatment for one child.
BLFA will use your support to fund and implement a wide range of activities in Africa aimed at fighting Burkitt's lymphoma.
How can we do this so cost-effectively? We have worked diligently to have high-cost items such as chemotherapy drugs and supplies donated and our partners are taking every opportunity to leverage other resources.
Our partners in Uganda (Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and the Uganda Cancer Institute) and Kenya (OGRA Foundation and Provincial General Hospital) will treat between 500 and 550 children over the next two years. Their programs provide for diagnosis, chemotherapy and related treatment as well as dealing with the real barriers to treatment for these patients, whose families often live on less than a dollar a day -- transportation, nutrition and shelter.
And most importantly, your support of BLFA will leverage financial and in-kind support from partner agencies and volunteers in North America and Africa.
